If you know me, you know I’m not exactly at the forefront of the ‘cool’ music scene. If you don’t know me, here’s why this is true: I thought I ‘discovered’ MGMT… in 2008. Also, Billy Joel’s Greatest Hits album, discs 1, 2 and 3, are in my top twenty of all time. FYI parents and parents-to-be: this is what happens when you raise your kids on soft rock radio and Melissa Manchester.

Anyway I’m revealing my musical past because I’m finally into a band that I think will be big in the not-too-distant future. Who, you wonder? Pickwick I say, and I’m hooked.

If you’ve not heard of them before well then +1 for me for coolness! But really, + infinity for everyone ‘cause they’re awesome.

At their show last night people were dancing, women were swooning (the lead singer’s voice is, as my dad would say, “really something else”), and wait—did I see spirit fingers? Like me, the crowd was really into them. Where I still remain downright dorky is in how I celebrated my new band-love—by getting misty-eyed because I am that person (thanks, mom!) who is genuinely moved by extraordinary talent.
